Arthi Vithiananthan

Arthi is a senior in Boston, Massachusetts who joined The Common Forum her freshman year of high school. She hopes to cultivate a larger network of politically active and socially engaged teenagers across the country through TCF editions, and is looking forward to a successful season with fresh perspectives and thoughtful takes from new writers. In school, she leads the Model UN and Debate club, captains various Mock Trial teams, and helps put together her school’s international affairs magazine. Contrary to popular belief, Arthi wants to pursue computer science with a focus on cyber security in her higher education, and hopes to use her strong background in politics and public speaking to sow a more ethical technological landscape in the future. In her free time, Arthi loves to crochet snuffed animals, read mystery novels, attend concerts, and play with her dog Daisy.

Valerie is currently a senior at Noble and Greenough School, and lives just outside of Boston, Massachusetts. She started as a writer for the common forum in her sophomore year, and is now excited to help facilitate discussions about social issues through TCF’s podcast and articles. At school, Valerie serves as a co-president of the Mock Trial Team, co-editor-in-chief of the international affairs magazine, and co-leader of the women’s classics club. In college, she intends to major in Classics with a focus on the role of women in ancient civilization and female writers of Latin and Greek texts. Valerie hopes to attend law school and approach her legal studies with a lens of activism. For fun, Valerie loves playing guitar, taking care of her pet shrimp, and baking bread.

She comes to The Common Forum as a managing editor excited to continue honing her editing skills and help build the growing online publication. In her free time, Emilie is a coxswain on the Nobles Girls Varsity Crew Team, and spent her out on the water with Cambridge Boat Club Juniors. In addition to her interest in journalism, Emilie is a passionate environmentalist and enjoys long runs.
